Criteria for Granting a Within-Grade Increase. A. An employee will be granted a within-grade increase when he/she has completed the required waiting period and the employee has performed at an acceptable level of competence during the waiting period as follows: 1. One year to move to steps 2, 3, and 4 2. Two years to move to steps 5, 6, and 7 3. Three years to move to steps 8, 9, and 10 B. Supervisors are responsible for keeping employees informed of the acceptability of their work on a regular basis. C. An employee is regarded as having reached an acceptable level of competence when the employee’s demonstrated work performance in all critical elements meets or exceeds standards established at the “Fully Successful”/pass level, and when the employee’s rating of record is “Fully Successful”/pass or higher. D. Where employees have been assigned to their present supervisor for less than ninety (90) days, and the supervisor cannot adequately assess the employee’s performance, the supervisor shall secure the views of the employee’s previous supervisor, when available, before making a determination.
