CRITERIA & STANDARDS. Faculty members may petition for title advancement no later than February 15th. To be considered for advancement, a faculty member should petition the home department administrator, providing information that establishes effectiveness as it pertains to the applicant’s letters of appointment covering the period of accumulation of the 150 work load units. The rationale for advancement may include, but is not limited to, the following: • A narrative (see 8.07) • The command of subject matter • The display of continuous growth in the subject field and/or teaching expertise • The ability to create and maintain instructional environments that promote student learning as demonstrated by student evaluations, course syllabi and examples of associated learning outcomes • The development of new courses • The display of pedagogical innovation • The contribution to professional societies and organizations • Community service reflective of the mission of the university • The demonstration of currency in the taught discipline(s) • Any work identified in the Letters of Appointment may be included in the evaluation In addition to the narrative, applicants may present annual reviews completed during the accumulation of the 150 WLUs that show consistent effectiveness and excellence, reviews by peers and colleagues, and student evaluations. In the case where faculty report to more than one department, faculty may include evaluations and evidence from non-home department work as it pertains to teaching practices.
