Common use of Date of Commencement and Completion Clause in Contracts

Date of Commencement and Completion. Contractor shall commence its Work no later than the date indicated in the Notice to Proceed with the Work to be provided by the Owner to Contractor, and the Work shall be performed regularly, diligently and without interruption at such a rate of progress to achieve Substantial Completion of the Project within _Twenty-Five (_25 ) days after the Contract Time commences to run as provided herein, subject to adjustments authorized by Owner ("Contract Time"). The Work shall be completed and ready for final payment in accordance the General Conditions within Forty (_40 ) days after the date when the Contract Time commences to run. The term "day" as used in the Contract Documents shall mean calendar day unless otherwise specifically defined. Time limits stated in the Contract Documents are of the essence of this Agreement. By executing this Agreement, Contractor confirms that the Contract Time is a reasonable period for performing the Work. Contractor shall not knowingly, except by agreement or instruction of Owner in writing, prematurely commence operations on the site or elsewhere prior to the effective date of insurance required by Article 5, of the General Conditions.
