DEDUCTION OF MEMBERSHIP DUES. [not opened] 2 A. The Hospital will deduct Association membership dues from the salary of each Nurse who 3 voluntarily agrees to such deductions and who submits a written authorization to the Hospital. 4 Deductions shall be made semimonthly in standard amounts and remitted to the Association. 6 B. Newly employed Nurses shall be required to join and maintain membership in the 7 Association as a condition of employment; any Registered Nurse who is a member of and adheres 8 to established and traditional tenets or teachings of a bona fide religion, body or sect which has 9 historically held conscientious objections to joining or financially supporting labor organizations need 10 not join the Association but shall pay an equivalent amount to the ONA Nurses Foundation, ONA 11 Nurses Scholarship Fund or the Silverton Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship Fund with such payments 12 specifically set aside for nursing education scholarships. Payments are to be made within 30 days 13 following the date of employment and are to be continued monthly or in advance and receipts sent 14 to the membership department of the Association. 16 C. The Hospital shall notify the unit chairpersons for the Association whenever a new nurse is 17 hired who would be covered by this Agreement. 18 19 D. The Association agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the Hospital and its agents for 20 any loss or damage arising from the performance of these services.
