In addition, it is likely that there are at least 250,000 volunteers in the sector, though accurate estimates are hard to establish. The CWDC has a ‘footprint’ of occupations4 within the children’s workforce which fall within its remit as laid out by the DfES when the organisation was first established. It is this list that has formed the basis of the research done for the CWDC’s SSA.
