Definition of Engineering Worker. Definition (a) an employee directly assisting a mechanical or electrical tradesperson. At this level, the employee's work includes, but is not limited to, the following: • assist in a team in the installation and maintenance of power supply work • install cable ladders, conduit and cable including fixings and fittings necessary for the installation of wiring circuits prior to terminating and testing by an electrical tradesperson • independently carry out work consistent with the skills acquired, but not to the level of a tradesperson. • participate in the training required for a St. ▇▇▇▇'s Ambulance CPR ticket and acquires such a qualification • participates in the training required for an electrical safety ticket • assist a tradesperson in installing and maintaining high voltage overhead conductors and associated switchgear • operates all equipment / plant, incidental to the job for which they are trained • assists in the preparation for and execution of all work carried out by a tradesperson • performs work under direct or general supervision either individually or in a team environment • carries out the documentation work necessary for the related job functions including the ordering of equipment and tools; or (b) an employee who has completed an Engineering Certificate or equivalent training so as to enable the employee to perform work within the scope of this level. An employee at this level performs work including: • working from instructions and procedures • assisting in the provision of on-the-job training to a limited degree • co-ordinating work in a team environment or works individually under general supervision • assuring the quality of their own work Indicative of the tasks which an employee at this level may perform include: • using precision measuring instruments • machine setting, loading and operation • inventory and store control including licensed operation of all appropriate materials handling equipment • using tools and equipment within the scope (basic non-trades maintenance) • computer operation • intermediate keyboard skills • basic engineering and fault finding skills • performing basic quality checks on the work of others • licensed and certified for fork-lift, engine driving and crane driving operations. • assisting tradespersons and supervisors in on-the-job training
