Development of the K14 Sample Clauses

Development of the K14. 15 cluster To sustain injection operations after 2030 in the 5 Mtpa Rijnmond scenario additional storage capacity is required. In the chosen scenario the K15-FB filed is selected as a storage site with the accompanying platform K15-FB-1 as a hub to meet the storage capacity in the next decade. This implies that the development of this potential hub has to start just after first injection operations in the P15/18 cluster will have commenced. Furthermore, a start date of 2031 is close to the estimated cease of gas production in 2030 (based on NSE Atlas, Nov 2019). In this particular scenario it is assumed that the current platform needs to be replaced by a new platform, which means that the current facilities are to be decommissioned first. Altogether this would make the realisation of an offshore hub at K15-FB-1 by 2031 not realistic. K15 start-up could be postponed with about a decade by increasing the group injection rate of the P15/18 cluster and better synchronize the injection in the individual P15/18 sites so that the plateau rate of 5 Mtpa in this cluster can be sustained for a longer period until about 2040. This would solve the identified issue of an early start of injection in the K14/15 cluster in the 5 Mtpa Rijnmond scenario. A more ambitious target injection rate of 10 Mtpa would double the efforts for developing gas fields into CO2 storage sites. More storage sites have to be on stream simultaneously and they have to start earlier on. The latter would increase the likelihood that existing infrastructure can be re-used and will lower the required investments. 2021-2030 2031-2070 Feasibility FEED Feasibility & FEED Contracting & Procurement Contracting & Procurement, Construction Construction & Commissioning Commissioning Operation Decom & transfer Post-closure monitoring Figure 7-2 Legend to storage lifetime stages presented in Figure 7-3 and Figure 7-4 P15-F P15-11 P15-11F1 P15-11F2 Platform Reservoir Well Well P15-G P15-13 P15-13G1ST1 Platform Reservoir Well P15-E P15-09 P15-09E1ST1 P15-09E2 Platform Reservoir Well Well P18-2 I P18-02A1 P18-02A3ST2 P18-02A5(ST1) II P18-02A6ST1 III P18-02A6 Reservoir Compartment Well Well Well Compartment Well Compartment Well P18-A P18-4 P18-04-A2 Platform Reservoir Well 2061-2070 2051-2060 2041-2050 2031-2040 2030 2029 2028 2027 2026 2025 2024 2023 2022 2021 2020 2019 2018 pre-2018 Name Component Final Investment Decision EIA & Permit P18-04-A2 Producing well Figure 7-3 Development, operation and closure of ...
