DISTRICT'S RIGHT TO STOP WORK; TERMINATION OR SUSPENSION OF THE CONTRACT. a. District's Right to Stop Work: In addition to or as an alternative to any and all other remedies available to the District, if the Contractor fails to correct work which is not performed in accordance with the Contract Documents, or if the Contractor persistently fails to perform the work in accordance with the Contract Documents, the District may by written order direct the Contractor to stop the work, or any portion thereof, until the cause for such order has been eliminated to the satisfaction of the District. However, the right of the District to stop the work shall not give rise to a duty on the part of the District to exercise this right for the benefit of the Contractor or any other person or entity, and the failure of the District to do so shall not be raised as a defense to the Contractor's failure to perform the work in accordance with the Contract Documents.
