Common use of Duties of the Inspector Clause in Contracts

Duties of the Inspector. Inspectors employed by the City are authorized to inspect work and materials furnished by the Responsible Party. Inspection may extend to any part of the work, preparation, fabrication, or manufacture of the materials to be used. The Inspector is not authorized to alter or waive the conditions of this Agreement. The Inspector is not authorized to issue instructions contrary to the plans and specifications or to act in a supervisory capacity for the Responsible Party. The Inspector will have the authority to reject work or materials until any questions at issue can be referred to and decided by the City Engineer. Neither the City’s authority to inspect all work nor any actual inspections performed by the City during the course of construction shall constitute an acceptance of work performed or operate to relieve the Responsible Party and/or Contractor’s obligation to construct the project in compliance with the plans and specifications.
