Common use of ELECTRICAL FACILITIES FROM TRAFFIC Clause in Contracts

ELECTRICAL FACILITIES FROM TRAFFIC. POST When a street light energized from NYCDOT’s traffic facilities (usually at an intersection) is reported as an outage, the Contractor shall troubleshoot the pair of the conductors (feeding street lights) through the intersection to the point where the traffic cable is spliced to the utility service conductor. This is limited to checking fuses, splices, pigtail sockets or fuse holders and their replacement when necessary at no additional compensation to the Contractor. All pigtail fuse holders must be replaced with an inline fuse holder. If there is still no energy to the Device after investigation, then the location should be reported as traffic "no-current", giving specific location and nature of defect. Should a Contractor’s report of a "no current" prove to be false, the Work Order may re-opened to the original date of issue and Liquidated Damages may be assessed as described in Section 4.10.4.2.
