If any provision(s) of the Faculty Agreement prove to be an impediment to a local institutional innovation, the innovators may apply for a variance to the Faculty Agreement, allowing them to operate under alternative guidelines for a pilot or proof of concept. The FACT will develop and maintain an application for a variance to the existing Faculty Agreement that will require a College to provide specific information, including: (A) the length of time requested for the variance to be piloted (not to exceed four consecutive semesters not counting summer); (B) the impact the variance will have on the working conditions of Adjunct and Residential Faculty; (C) the alternative rules that will be applicable (if any); (D) the impact the variance will have on interactions with students; and
