EVALUATION AND PROBATIONSection 1Provisions Applicable to Evaluation Generally A. Facilitate the collection of evidence to be used in the formative and summative assessment of certificated staff job performance. B. Provide information useful in determining and providing for professional development opportunities that support professional growth. C. Provide educators with formative information and data that promotes and encourages reflection in one’s practice and supports continuous self-improvement. D. Motivate all members of the staff to participate in formulating and evaluating instructional programs. E. Determine if there is a need to take corrective measures supporting the growth of employees with identified performance deficiencies and/or a need to place an employee on probation.
EVALUATION AND PROBATIONNew employees and employees at will shall be on probation for ninety (90) calendar days from the first day of work. Evaluations of all employees will be conducted according to the procedures outlined in Appendix A. Any credible complaint made about a member that may result in disciplinary action shall promptly be brought to the attention of the member. Consistent with the safety and preservation of law enforcement investigations, the member shall have a right to know their accuser.

EVALUATION AND PROBATION. ‌ Section 1 – Introduction‌ 8.1.1 There shall be two types of evaluations recognized in University Place School District. Certificated classroom teachers with an assigned group of students who provide academically focused instruction will be evaluated using the Comprehensive or Focused evaluation system. Certificated Support Personnel shall be evaluated using the Summative (long form), Short Form, or PGO as described in section 8.10. The purpose of the evaluation procedures set forth herein shall be to improve the educational program by improving the quality of instruction. The evaluation process shall recognize strengths, identify areas needing improvement, and provide support for professional growth. The evaluation system will encourage respect and collaboration in the evaluation process by the persons conducting the evaluations and the persons subject to the evaluation by recognizing the importance of objective standards in evaluation. (1) An evaluation system must be meaningful, helpful, and objective; (2) an evaluation system must encourage improvements in teaching skills, techniques, and abilities by identifying areas needing improvement; (3) an evaluation system must provide a mechanism to make meaningful distinctions among teachers and to acknowledge, recognize, and encourage superior teaching performance; and (4) an evaluation system must encourage respect in the evaluation process by the persons conducting the evaluations and the persons subject to the evaluations through recognizing the importance of objective standards and minimizing subjectivity.” Section 2 Definitions for the Comprehensive Evaluation System‌ 8.2.1 Formal Evaluation - the process which culminates in the completion of one of the following documents: Comprehensive or Focused Evaluation.
