Feasibility of recruitment. In order to reach a total sample size of 106 patients during 36 months in 11 centers, every center will have to include 3.2 patients per year on average. The participating centers represent institutions treating a large patient volume and are located in different regions of Germany and Austria. All of them are University hospitals with large neonatal intensive-care units (NICU). When analyzing the center data over the last five years, each of the centers treated at least 6.1 infants per year that would fit our inclusion criteria (see 9.).
