Common use of First Offense – Verbal Warning Clause in Contracts

First Offense – Verbal Warning. When a violation of District rules and/or standards of conduct occurs, a meeting will be scheduled with the employee to advise him or her of a violation. During the meeting, the supervisor will provide an explanation of, and ensure an understanding of, the rule and/or standard of conduct. The supervisor will also verbally warn the employee of the consequences of repeated and/or future violation of the rule and/or standard of conduct. A written record of the verbal warning (i.e., date, time, place and circumstance) is recommended, but will not be placed in the employee’s official personnel file.
