Flexible grouping Clause Samples

Flexible grouping. Flexible grouping structures will be used to provide skills-based instruction. Most students should be served within their own classroom setting. However, a student whose literacy and/or numeracy achievement falls outside the norm for his/her class may be grouped with students in another classroom if such placement is appropriate and in the best interest of the student.
Flexible grouping. To better meet the needs of all learners, the Charter School will implement flexible student grouping. One student grouping model the Charter School will use is multiage classrooms. Multiage classrooms include students from more than one traditional grade level. These multiage classes are instructed as a single, self-contained class that will cover standards from each grade level over multiple years. Students will remain in class with the same teacher for the duration of the multiage cycle to allow for all learning standards to be addressed. Another student grouping model the Charter School may use is single grade looping. Single grade looping is a teacher spending two or more years with the same class of students who are all in the same grade level.

An annual review of student grouping will be conducted by the administration and teachers before May 1st. Student needs, and academic progress based on formative and summative assessment data will be analyzed. The Charter School will consult with parents and the Board of Directors during the review process. Clear communication of the findings will be shared through meetings, newsletters, and via technology before making a recommendation to the Board of Directors.
