FLITCH BEAM DESIGN. StruCalc can design a flitch beam (which is a steel plate sandwiched between two pieces of lumber) in any of the beam modules. Choose the type of flitch beam from the top toolbar (solid sawn or structural composite) and the thickness and the number of the steel plate(s) from the section toolbar. StruCalc uses the transformation method to convert the steel plate into an equivalent wood section.
