Front Suspension. Front suspension shall be progressive rate front leaf springs. The spring shall be permanently pinned at the front and have a shackle double pinned mounting at the rear. The front leaf springs shall have a minimum of 10 leaves, a minimum length of 51", and a minimum width of 3-1/2". The capacity at ground shall be 24,000 lbs. All springs shall be of center bolt design. All spring pins shall be positively restrained from rotating in brackets and shackles.
Front Suspension. The front suspension shall be a pin and shackle design. Front springs shall be a minimum of nine (9) leaf elliptical type, 53" x 3-1/2" x .5" forged steel. The front springs shall have a military wrapper for safe operation. For a smooth ride the spring rate shall not exceed 3,300 lbs/in deflection. All front spring pins shall be ground heat treated steel with grease fittings for lubrication. The entire front suspension shall be designed for heavy duty custom fire apparatus with a capacity at ground of 20,000 lbs. One (1) 07-RS-0100 Double acting hydraulic shock absorbers are to be installed. One (1) 07-Y0-0122
Front Suspension. The front suspension shall include a Xxxxxxxxxxx leaf spring suspension. The suspension shall feature:  Capacity rating of 20,000 pounds  9 Leafs  Case hardened threaded bushings  A Grease fitting  Double wrapped front eye FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS Two (2) Bilstein inert, nitrogen gas filled shock absorbers shall be provided and installed as part of the front suspension system. The shocks shall be a monotubular design and fabricated using a special extrusion method, utilizing a single blank of steel without a welded seam, achieving an extremely tight peak-to-valley tolerance and maintains consistent wall thickness. The monotubular design shall provide superior strength while maximizing heat dissipation and shock life. The ride afforded through the use of a gas shock is more consistent and shall not deteriorate with heat, the same way a conventional oil filled hydraulic shock would. The Bilstein front shocks shall include a digressive working piston assembly allowing independent tuning of the compression and rebound damping forces to provide optimum ride and comfort without compromise. The working piston design shall feature fewer parts than most conventional twin tube and “road sensing” shock designs and shall contribute to the durability and long life of the Bilstein shock absorbers. Proposals offering the use of conventional twin tube or “road sensing” designed shocks shall not be considered. One (1) Power Steering Gear TRW TAS 85 w/Assist- 20K and up 07-05-0319

Front Suspension. Front Oshkosh TAK-4™ independent suspension will be provided with a minimum ground rating of 24,000 lb. The independent suspension system has been designed to provide maximum ride comfort. The design will allow the vehicle to travel at highway speeds over improved road surfaces and at moderate speeds over rough terrain with minimal transfer of road shock and vibration to the vehicle's crew compartment. Each wheel will have a torsion bar type spring. In addition, each front wheel end will also have energy absorbing jounce bumpers to prevent bottoming of the suspension. The suspension design will be such that there is at least 10.00" of total wheel travel and a minimum of 3.75" before suspension bottoms. The torsion bar anchor lock system allows for simple lean adjustments, without the use of shims. One can adjust for a lean within 15 minutes per side. Anchor adjustment design is such that it allows for ride height adjustment on each side. The independent suspension was put through a durability test that simulated 140,000 miles of inner city driving. FRONT SHOCK ABSORBERS KONI heavy-duty telescoping shock absorbers will be provided on the front suspension. FRONT OIL SEALS Oil seals with viewing window will be provided on the front axle. FRONT TIRES Front tires will be Goodyear radials 445/65R22.50, 20 ply all-position G296 MSA tread, rated for 24,600 lb maximum axle load and 68 mph maximum speed. The tires will be mounted on Alcoa 22.50" x 13.00" polished aluminum disc type wheels with a ten (10)stud, 11.25" bolt circle.
Front Suspension. MacPherson struts, Upper and lower control arms, stabilizer bar, linkage and bushings, tie rods, kingpins and bushings, spindle and spindle supports, and front axle I-beam.
