General Policy Statement. Metropolitan Community College Area (hereinafter “College”) and the Metropolitan Community College Education Association (hereinafter “Association”) believe in life-long learning. It is their mutual goal to develop a better educated and more highly skilled workforce in order to better serve student and consumer needs. One avenue of support for employees is provided through an education fund for employees who satisfactorily complete courses that benefit the College in accordance with these guidelines.

General Policy Statement. Academic freedom is essential to the teaching, research, scholarship and community development functions of the University. The University will defend the academic freedom of members from interference from any source; however, the University will not be held accountable for infringements of academic freedom originating beyond the control of the University.
General Policy Statement. Copyright is the ownership and control of the intellectual property in original works of authorship, which are subject to copyright law. It is the policy of the District that all rights in copyright of works produced by employees on sabbatical shall remain with the employee/creator unless the work is a work for hire (and copyright vests in the District under copyright law), is supported by a direct allocation of funds of the District for the pursuit of a specific project, is commissioned by the District, makes significant use of District resources or personnel, or is otherwise subject to contractual obligations.

In accordance with this mutual goal, the purpose of this Article is to identify the owners of the copyrights and patents to certain works and inventions that may be created by the faculty members.

The prompt and open dissemination of the results of research undertaken at the University of Nebraska and the free exchange of information among scholars are essential to the fulfillment of the University's obligations as an institution committed to excellence in research, education, and service. Matters of ownership, distribution, and commercial development nonetheless arise in the context of technology transfer, which is also an important aspect of the University's commitment to public service. The University of Nebraska as a public institution has a responsibility to recognize the State’s contribution of tax support for research and creative activity by devoting an appropriate share of the products of that research to the further benefit of the University as a whole. The University must also recognize the intellectual contribution of Authors and Inventors, the need to provide incentives for enhanced intellectual activity, and the role such incentives play in recruiting and retaining creative individuals at the University. “Author(s)” and/or “Inventor(s)” are defined herein as faculty, staff, and other persons employed by the University of Nebraska, whether full or part-time; visiting faculty and researchers; and any other persons, including students, who create or discover Intellectual Property using University resources, as those terms are subsequently defined.
General Policy Statement. Each employee shall be expected to report for work at a location designated by the City to begin his scheduled shift. Failure to do so shall be considered neglect of duty on the part of the employee and subject to disciplinary procedure.
