Metropolitan Community College Area (hereinafter “College”) and the Metropolitan Community College Education Association (hereinafter “Association”) believe in life-long learning. It is their mutual goal to develop a better educated and more highly skilled workforce in order to better serve student and consumer needs. General Policy Statement. Academic freedom is essential to the teaching, research, scholarship and community development functions of the University. The University will defend the academic freedom of members from interference from any source; however, the University will not be held accountable for infringements of academic freedom originating beyond the control of the University.

It is the policy of the District that all rights in copyright of works produced by employees on sabbatical shall remain with the employee/creator unless the work is a work for hire (and copyright vests in the District under copyright law), is supported by a direct allocation of funds of the District for the pursuit of a specific project, is commissioned by the District, makes significant use of District resources or personnel, or is otherwise subject to contractual obligations.
