Common use of GENERIC DRUG Clause in Contracts

GENERIC DRUG. A drug that has the same active ingredient as a Brand-Name Drug and is allowed to be produced after the Brand-Name Drug’s patent has expired. In determining the brand or generic classification for covered drugs, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana uses the generic/brand status assigned by a nationally recognized provider of drug product database information. Not all drugs identified as a “generic” by the drug product database, manufacturer, Pharmacy or Physician may process as a Generic Drug. Generic Drugs are listed on the Drug List which is available on the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Montana website at xxxxx://xxx.xxxxxx.xxx/rx-drugs/drug-lists/drug-lists. The Member may also contact Customer Service for more information. The geographic area of Montana in which a health carrier has a network that has been deemed adequate by the Montana Department of Health and Human Services. A list of Primary Care Providers and other Participating Providers and the communities they serve within the Geographic Service Area is available to the Member free of charge. Coverage will be provided for Habilitative Care services when the Member requires help to keep, learn or improve skills and functioning for daily living.
