Grievance Investigation and Preparation. The investigation and writing of grievances shall be on non­duty time. In contrast, the actual processing of grievances, commencing with the filing of the grievances at the appropriate step of the grievance procedure, may be on duty time. In addition, if grievance hearings, including arbitration and/or mediation hearings, are scheduled during an employee’s regular duty hours, the employee shall not suffer any loss of pay while attending the hearing.

An employee who is required to attend a grievance hearing as a witness for the Sheriff shall be compensated in accordance with Article 32, Call-In Pay.
