Health Eligible Retirees. The following paragraphs a. through c. are included solely for historical purposes and have no effect. a. Effective July 1, 2002, a Health Eligible Retiree, as defined in the SDMC, will have the applicable Medicare eligible or non-Medicare eligible insurance premiums paid for the Health Eligible Retiree-only insurance, or the Health Eligible Retiree will be reimbursed the actual cost incurred from the Medicare eligible or non- Medicare eligible retiree-only premium up to the maximum amount allowed in Municipal Code Division 12. San Diego Municipal Code Section 24.1202 sets forth the maximum amounts to be paid on behalf of or reimbursed to a Health Eligible Retiree for retiree-only Medicare eligible or non-Medicare eligible health insurance premiums based on the premium for the City-sponsored PPO plan for Fiscal Year (FY) 2003 and annually adjusted thereafter based on the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Office of the Actuary, projected increase for National Health Expenditures for the full year period ending in the January preceding the start of the new plan year; such adjustment shall not exceed ten percent (10%) for any given year. The maximum amount of monies reimbursed to Health Eligible Retirees will be one hundred percent (100%) of such Medicare- eligible or non-Medicare eligible retiree-only premium. b. Health Eligible Retirees may choose to participate in a City-sponsored health insurance plan or any other health insurance plan of their choice. c. Additionally, a Health Eligible Retiree timely enrolled in Medicare is entitled to reimbursement of the cost of the Part B Supplemental Medicare Expense Premium.
