High School Schedule. 1.) Each educator shall be provided preparation time which shall be equal to one (1) full class period during the instructional day with such time being free from specific duty assignments.
2.) In schools where block schedules are followed, educators shall have available to them, a minimum of four hundred fifty (450) minutes of preparation time in each consecutive two-week period.
High School Schedule. The High School (grades 9-12) shall operate on a 4 x 4 block, four periods per day, with an embedded A/B block for one-half credit courses.
High School Schedule. (a) On the basis of a seven-period day, High School teachers working in the major academic areas will be assigned no more than thirty (30) periods per week, of which not more than twenty-five (25) shall be teaching periods.
(b) On the basis of a 15-module day, the High School Schedule academic year is as follows:
1) Teachers will be available to be scheduled between the hours of 7:35 AM to 2:25 PM. Teachers are scheduled 45 modules of teaching per week. Teachers have 9 mods per class and five classes per week.
2) As determined by each department, every teacher will be scheduled for one mod (26 minutes) per week of structured learning oversight. Each department will determine the activities of teachers and an appropriate mix of those.
3) No duty time except for:
a. Administrative Homeroom - This schedule does not include a dedicated homeroom period. The principal can schedule administrative homeroom when necessary to conduct the business of the school (e.g. distribution of student course descriptions, sign-up, etc.).
High School Schedule. Teachers in the High School who are assigned to cover classes other than their regular assignment shall be reimbursed at the rate of thirty-five dollars ($35.00) per hour for 2008-09 and forty dollars ($40) per hour for the 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 school years, and such coverage shall be arranged by the principal of the school and shall be distributed as equitably as possible among the teachers.
High School Schedule. Joint Labor Management Committee The parties agree to form a Joint Labor Management Committee (JLMC) to review and revise the school schedules. Any and all recommendations by the JLMC are subject to bargaining at the request of either party. The JLMC will be convened within 30 school days of ratification of a new contract.
High School Schedule. The high school teacher work day shall remain the same: 7 hours and 35 minutes. High school teachers generally shall begin their work day a minimum of 15 minutes before the first period bell and generally shall continue until a minimum of 15 minutes after the final period bell. This allows for the increase of instructional minutes for the student day. In recognition of the loss of before and after school prep time, the remainder of this prep time will be added in the form of an additional prep period. High school teachers shall have at least one daily preparation period unless the operational needs of a school make this unfeasible. If this schedule is unfeasible, a teacher will not be assigned a schedule without a daily preparation period two years in a row, unless mutually agreed upon. In recognition of the additional planning time each school day resulting from the shift to a 7-period day, staff meetings will be kept as defined by Article 15.13.
High School Schedule. The number of classroom periods at the high school shall consist of a six-block schedule, and courses will run either by term, semester, or year.
a. No teacher shall be assigned more than four (4) classroom instructional periods per day, unless under circumstances covered by II, below.
1. No teacher will be required to teach more than two (2) subjects (e.g., math and science) or more than three (3) teaching preparations within said subjects at any one time.
2. Teacher preparations for this section are defined as courses as described in the Program of Studies. Levels within courses (e.g., Honors and College Prep) are not subject to different preparations.
b. Teachers shall be assigned a minimum of eight (8) preparation periods per week. Every teacher shall have at least one (1) preparation period per day.
1. A preparation period is defined as a scheduled period during which a teacher shall be free from classroom teaching responsibilities. During such periods, a teachers will perform educationally relevant activities or participate in educationally relevant programs as said teacher may determine. The School Committee will make reasonable effort to continue the type and number of assignments during the last period of the day. The Fall River Public Schools recognize that during these preparation periods, teachers may engage in actions of a personal nature as they arise, provided they are conducted within a reasonable amount of time and adhere to the provisions stated within this collective bargaining agreement.
2. If a teacher is given an assignment during a non-duty preparation period, that teacher will be compensated at the negotiated hourly rate.
c. Teachers shall attend one (1) scheduled meeting of their Professional Learning Community per week.
