Horizon Scanning applications. ‌ A literature review of Horizon Scanning applications was carried out to evaluate the field of application, methods applied, the goal of each program, the outcomes, and the information sources. In general, Horizon scanning is applied to different sectors, including public health, environmental preservation, safety, business, technology innovation, and security. The goals of these applications are different, going from the prioritization of dangers to the environment, to the identification of benefit potentials of a new medical practice or pharmaceutical to better plan public health investments, to the identification of national security issues.
