Individual Supplemental Contracts. 1. Appointments to coaching and extra-curricular positions covered by this Agreement are on a yearly or seasonal basis. 2. Employees assigned to coaching and/or extra curricular assignments shall have their appointments reviewed each year. 3. An employee who is not advised within twenty (20) (business days of the end of an activity or sports season that his or her contract will not be renewed for the ensuing year shall have the right of contract renewal for the same position, if it is filled and the sport or activity offered, for the next ensuing year. The District’s determinations during this 20-day period are within its sole discretion, and are not subject to review in the grievance process. The District will strive to maintain open communication with the employees to avoid surprises in this regard. Any District determination made after the 20-day period to not renew an employee’s contract for the ensuing year shall be for just cause. Just cause shall include but not be limited to appropriate disciplinary action and reductions necessitated by financial reasons or enrollment declines or information that was not available to the district.
