Common use of Layout and Field Engineering Clause in Contracts

Layout and Field Engineering. 11.4.1. All field engineering required for layout of this Work and establishing grades for earthwork operations shall be furnished by Contractor at its expense. This Work shall be done by a qualified, California-registered civil engineer and/or surveyor (as appropriate) approved in writing by District and Architect. 11.4.2. The Contractor shall be responsible for having ascertained pertinent local conditions such as location, accessibility, and general character of the Site and for having satisfied itself as to the conditions under which the Work is to be performed. District shall not be liable for any claim for allowances because of Contractor’s error or negligence in acquainting itself with the conditions at the Site. 11.4.3. Contractor shall protect and preserve established benchmarks and monuments and shall make no changes in locations without the prior written approval of District. Contractor shall replace any benchmarks or monuments that are lost or destroyed subsequent to proper notification of District and with District's approval.
