Leave for Elected Office and Community Service. 1. When a teacher is nominated as a candidate and wishes to contest a village, municipal, regional, provincial or federal election, he/she shall be given leave of absence, without pay, during the election campaign. Should the teacher be elected as a Member of Parliament or Member of the Legislative Assembly, he/she shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence for one term.
