Common use of Leave for Upgrading or Retraining Clause in Contracts

Leave for Upgrading or Retraining. Teachers who would otherwise be laid off shall, upon request, be granted a leave of absence of up to two (2) years for educational upgrading to become qualified to teach in areas in which teachers may be required by the Board. Upon expiry of the leave the Teacher shall be given any position for which the Teacher is qualified which is held by a Teacher with less seniority; otherwise, the Teacher shall be laid off.
