Common use of Limitations and Expectations Clause in Contracts

Limitations and Expectations. Under no circumstances shall the City be required to pay overtime or grant comp time for civic duty appearances that are not work-related. In the event an employee serves a partial day of civic duty, the employee shall be required to return to work after being released from court, or arrange for use of paid leave in accordance with department rules to compensate for time away from work that is not spent in court. Exceptions may be allowed in such circumstances as when the court appearance is out of the area or the employee is released from their court responsibilities with less than 45 minutes left in their scheduled workday. It shall be the employee’s responsibility to notify his/her supervisor of pending civic responsibilities as soon as the employee has knowledge of such duty.
