Maintenance ˗ Waste Water Operator. Waste Water Operator Training and Testing Provisions (Employee(s) without necessary certification(s)) ˗˗ 1. The successful bidder awarded the position on a contingent basis shall have eighteen (18) months from the date of enrollment in an “Operator˗In˗Training” program to earn the requisite twelve (12) months of experience as an “Operator˗In˗Training,” successfully pass the exam, and attain the required certification for Class I Waste Water Treatment Operator. 2. The Board shall pay for the registration costs of the first three (3) exams the successful bidder may take; thereafter, the successful bidder shall be responsible for the cost of any future exams. 3. If the successful bidder does not complete the required “Operator˗In˗Training” period or pass the exam within the time period specified in paragraph 1 above, the successful bidder shall return to his/her previously held position without any loss of seniority and/or benefits. If no such position exists, the successful bidder shall be considered laid˗off, with all rights and privileges afforded by the Board and Association’s Negotiated Agreement. 4. If the return of the successful bidder to his/her former position due to the successful bidder’s failure to complete the required “Operator˗In˗Training” period or pass the exam within the time period specified in paragraph 1 above causes another employee to be displaced, the displaced employee shall return to his/her previously held position within the District without any loss of seniority and/or benefits. If no such position exists, the displaced employee shall be considered laid˗off, with all rights and privileges afforded by the Board and Association’s Negotiated Agreement. 5. Upon completion of the requirements set forth in paragraph 1 above, the successful bidder will be awarded the position, and the contingency shall be removed automatically.
