MEDICATION AND MEDICAL PROCEDURES. An employee shall not be required to administer medication or perform health support services unless these activities are specific requirements included in their job description for which they have been trained. The Board recognizes that it retains all legal responsibilities for the actions of employees acting within the scope of their job description.
MEDICATION AND MEDICAL PROCEDURES. 60.01 An Educational Assistant providing medical procedures, or administering medication in performing their duties, shall do so only under the Board Policy - Administration of Medication and Medical Procedures.
MEDICATION AND MEDICAL PROCEDURES. 53:01 An employee shall not be required to perform health support services. Employees may be required to dispense medication in accordance with Board Policy 312, Administration of Medication to Students.
53:02 The employer shall, through existing or supplementary insurance coverage, adequately insure personnel against claims arising from the administration of medication and/or the performance of health support services and procedures.

MEDICATION AND MEDICAL PROCEDURES. 1. The Employer shall establish a system for the administration of medication and medical procedures for students.
2. Teachers shall not be called on to administer medication or medical procedures to students on a regular, predictable basis.
3. Where exceptional circumstances exist that require a student to receive medication or medical procedures, and no one other than the teacher can administer such medication, the Principal and teacher will discuss and seek a common resolution. When required, the Principal or designate will arrange appropriate training.
4. Teachers have a duty to render assistance to students in an emergency.

61.03 The Board shall, through existing or supplementary insurance coverage, adequately insure Educational Assistants and Secretarial Staff against claims made against them arising from the administration of medication or providing medical treatment to students by following Board Policy or Board directive.
MEDICATION AND MEDICAL PROCEDURES. The Board recognizes the right of any employee in the bargaining unit, except Educational Assistants, to refuse to be designated to administer medication or perform any medical/physical procedures. An employee providing medical procedures as a function contained with the duties of their job description shall do so in accordance with the Ministry of Education directives and/or where the employee has been appropriately trained to carry out the duty. The administration of medication will be carried out in accordance with Board procedures and forms. The Board shall, through existing insurance coverage to the limit of Board liability, insure any employees in the bargaining unit against claims arising from regular or emergency medical/physical procedures.
