Minimizing Disruption of the Educational Process. It shall be the general policy of (law enforcement agency) when making any arrest on school grounds to minimize the disruption of the school environment to the greatest extent possible, consistent with the requirements of public safety. Accordingly, substantial weight shall be given by the law enforcement officer assigned to make the arrest to the specific recommendations of the building principal or local chief school administrator as to the time, place, and manner for effecting the arrest.

It is un- derstood and agreed that school officials may not provide sanctuary from arrest to any student, and that school officials may not interfere with or impede any law en- forcement officer in the performance of his or her duties.
