Common use of Negative Balances Clause in Contracts

Negative Balances. (a) Employees may enter into a negative ADO balance in exceptional circumstances such as extended sick leave (greater than four weeks) or other extended absences agreed to between the school and the employee concerned. (b) This debit may be carried forward into a new school year. (c) Provided that such negative balance of hours is reduced to a zero balance within a period of 12 months from when the negative balance occurs. (d) An employee must not have a negative balance of more than 30 ADO hours at any time. (e) Negative balances on termination of employment may be deducted from the final wages on a time for time basis. (f) The employer must allow an employee who resigns, retires or otherwise ceases duty, to attempt to reduce the negative ADO balance prior to cessation.
