Network Interconnection Architecture. Each Party will plan, design, construct and maintain the facilities within their respective systems as are necessary and proper for the provision of traffic covered by this Agreement. These facilities include but are not limited to, a sufficient number of trunks to the point of interconnection with the tandem company, and sufficient interoffice and interexchange facilities and trunks between its own central offices to adequately handle traffic between all central offices within the service areas at a P.01 grade of service or better. The provisioning and engineering of such services and facilities will comply with generally accepted industry methods and practices, and will observe the rules and regulations of the lawfully established tariffs applicable to the services provided.

Network Interconnection Architecture. Pathnet may interconnect with GTE on its network at any of the minimum Currently Available points required by the FCC. Interconnection at additional points will be reviewed on an individual case basis. Where the Parties mutually agree following a Bona Fide Request (BFR) to directly interconnect their respective networks, interconnection will be as specified in the following subsections. Based on the configuration, the installation time line will vary considerably, however, GTE will work with Pathnet in all circumstances to install IPs within 120 calendar days absent extenuating circumstances. Internetwork connection and protocol must be based on industry standards developed consistent with Section 256 of the Act. 4.1.1 Subject to mutual agreement, the Parties may use the following types of network facility interconnection, using such interface media as are (i) appropriate to support the type of interconnection requested and (ii) available at the facility at which interconnection is requested. (a) A Mid-Span Fiber Meet within an existing GTE exchange area whereby the Parties mutually agree to jointly plan and engineer their facility IP at a designated manhole or junction location. The IP is the demarcation between ownership of the fiber transmission facility. Each party is individually responsible for its incurred costs in establishing this arrangement. (b) A virtual or physical Expanded Interconnection Service (EIS) arrangement at a GTE Wire Center subject to the rates, terms, and conditions contained in GTE's applicable tariffs. (c) A special access and/or CLEC Dedicated Transport arrangement terminating at a GTE Wire Center subject to the rates, terms, and conditions contained in GTE's applicable tariffs. These facilities will meet the standards set forth in such tariffs. 4.1.2 Virtual and physical EIS arrangements are governed by appropriate GTE tariffs, except as provided in Article IX and Appendix G. 4.1.3 The Parties will mutually designate at least one IP on GTE's network within each GTE local calling area for the routing of Local Traffic.

Network Interconnection Architecture. 64.1 Where the Parties interconnect their networks, for purposes of exchanging traffic between their networks, the Parties agree to utilize the interconnection methods specified in Attachment 11: Network Interconnection Architecture. AT&T OKLAHOMA expressly recognizes that this provision and said Attachment are in no way intended to impair in any way CLEC's right to interconnect with Unbundled Network Elements furnished by AT&T OKLAHOMA at any technically feasible point within AT&T OKLAHOMA's network, as provided in the Act.

It also describes the ordering process and maintenance requirements.

For each POI set forth in Appendix A, the Parties shall specify the type of interconnection used at that POI. (a) A Mid-Span Fiber Meet within an existing GTE exchange area whereby the Parties mutually agree to jointly plan and engineer their facility meet-point at a designated manhole or junction location. The meet point is the demarcation between ownership of the fiber transmission facility. Each party is individually responsible for its incurred costs in establishing this arrangement. 4.1.2 EIS arrangements are governed by appropriate GTE tariffs. GTE shall not permit direct connections (optical patch panel) or cross-connection ( ADSX@) between any EIS arrangements at the same wire center location. However, this Agreement does not preclude Cellular One from acquiring GTE special access service to connect an EIS arrangement to a distant GTE wire center or connect between EIS arrangements in different wire centers.
