Notice to Engineer from Contractor Prior to Covering Work. If the Specifications, the Engineer's instructions (either in the Specifications or issued later in writing), laws, ordinances or any public authority require any Work to be specially tested or approved, the Contractor shall give the Engineer timely notice in writing of its readiness for inspection, and if the inspection is by any authority other than the Engineer, of the date fixed for such inspection. Inspections by the Engineer shall be made promptly and where practicable at the source of supply. If any Work should be covered without approval or consent of the Engineer, it must, if required by the Engineer, be uncovered for examination at the Contractor’s expense.
