Objectives and Functions. 1. The main objective of the Centre shall be to contribute to efforts at the global, regional and sub-regional levels aimed at empowering regional and local authorities to mainstream human rights and gender equality and to promote inclusion across their areas of work in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and notably Sustainable Development Goal 11 “Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable” and also with relevant commitments of the New Urban Agenda.
2. The Centre shall promote:
(a) Capacity-building, including the provision of technical advice and training through appropriate methodologies and implementation instruments, at the local and regional level to support the implementation of a human rights-based approach (“HRBA”) throughout the programming cycle (planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation);
(b) Interdisciplinary research on mainstreaming human rights at the local level, including on monitoring and evaluation, to be widely disseminated and also to serve as knowledge base for other functions;
(c) The setting up of a clearing-house encompassing, inter alia, the systematic collection, analysis and wide dissemination of good practices at city-level among various networks;
(d) Cooperation and networking with international, regional and local governments and organizations (particularly with UN agencies, programmes and bodies, UNESCO chairs, the Council of Europe, the League of Arab States, the Organization of American States and others) and networks (such as ICCAR, United Cities and Local Governments, Conference of Human Rights Cities), local and regional authorities, academia and civil society organizations active in the field of local and regional human rights implementation.
Objectives and Functions. 1. The objectives of the Commission shall be to promote the development, conservation, rational management and best utilization of living aquatic resources, as well as the sustainable development of aquaculture in the Area defined in Article IV.
2. The Commission shall in pursuance of its objectives have the following functions and responsibilities:
(a) keep under review the state of these resources, including their abundance and the level of their exploitation, as well as the state of the fisheries and aquaculture;
(b) formulate and recommend, in accordance with the provisions of Article V, appropriate measures:
(i) for the conservation and rational management of living aquatic resources in the Area defined in Article IV; and,
(ii) for the implementation of these recommendations;
(c) keep under review the economic and social aspects of the fishing and aquaculture industry and recommend any measures aimed at its development;
(d) encourage, recommend, coordinate and, as appropriate, undertake activities relating to training and extension, research and development, including cooperative projects in the areas of fisheries and aquaculture;
(e) assemble, publish or disseminate information regarding exploitable living aquatic resources and fisheries and aquaculture based on these resources;
(f) promote programmes for aquaculture and fisheries enhancement;
(g) promote women's participation in aquaculture and capture fisheries development;
(h) transfer appropriate technologies and techniques for development of small-scale fisheries and aquaculture;
(i) contribute to knowledge generation and raising the awareness about fisheries and aquaculture in the Central Asian and Caucasus region;
(j) promote liaison and cooperation among and within governmental organizations and with non- governmental organizations as appropriate;
(k) carry out such other activities as may be necessary for the Commission to achieve its purpose as defined above.
3. In performing its functions and in particular when formulating and recommending measures under paragraph 2 (b) above, the Commission shall apply the precautionary approach and the ecosystems approach to conservation and management decisions and take into account the best scientific evidence available, the need to promote responsible fisheries and aquaculture development and the proper utilisation of living aquatic resources in the Area defined in Article IV.
Objectives and Functions. The union-management consultation mechanism will provide a process whereby representatives from union and management will meet from time to time to discuss issues of interest and/or concerns. This process is one in which the parties seek information, provide advice and exchange views on specific matters; it is a means of fostering understanding of the other parties’ concerns and particular views pertaining to specific issues and developments within the business. The consultation process allows the parties the opportunity to develop meaningful dialogue, to bring forth their particular points of view, and in a spirit of good faith, attempt to find solutions to concerns and issues raised by each party. The main objective of union-management consultation is to provide an effective ongoing communication vehicle between union and management which facilitates discussion of issues, if not resolution. Union-management consultation does not imply any agreement on issues discussed nor does it in any way interfere with the management’s authority or obligation to manage, or the union’s legal rights under the Labour Relations Code of British Columbia, or the Collective Agreement.
Objectives and Functions. The objectives and functions of the Organisation shall be
i. To promote and undertake harmonization of national standards of the SAARC Member States with a view to removing the technical barriers to trade and facilitate flow of goods and services in the region.
ii. To develop SAARC standards on the products of regional/sub-regional interest.
iii. To encourage the use of international standards published by international organizations such as ISO, IEC, etc. by way of adoption, where appropriate, as SAARC Standards.
iv. To encourage exchange of information and expertise among the National Standards Bodies of the Member States in the fields of Standardization and Conformity Assessment.
v. To facilitate capacity building among the Member States in the fields of Standardization and Conformity Assessment by way of training, workshops, seminars etc.
vi. To act as a source of information for the Member States on standards, regulations, conformity assessment.
vii. To present the common interests of the Member States in the various international standardization organisations.
viii. To establish mutually beneficial cooperation with the relevant international and regional organizations as per relevant SAARC guidelines.
ix. To promote Mutual Recognition Arrangements (MRAs) on Conformity Assessment Procedures among the Member States.
x. To encourage sharing of facilities relating to conformity assessment procedures among the Member States.
xi. To explore the possibility of having a common mark of conformity among the Member States. xii To undertake any other task (s) as deemed appropriate.
xiii. The Organisation shall have the powers necessary to enable it to carry out its objectives and functions.
Objectives and Functions. 1. The objectives of the Centre shall be to conduct research, capacity building, and information networking activities in the field of water-related hazards and their risk management at the local, national, regional, and global levels in order to prevent and mitigate their impacts and thereby contribute to achieving sustainable development in the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, promote integrated river basin management, and strengthen resilience to societal and climate changes.
2. In order to achieve the above objectives, the functions of the Centre shall be to:
(a) promote scientific research and policy studies and undertake effective capacity-building activities at the institutional and professional levels;
(b) create and reinforce networks for the exchange of scientific, technical and policy information among institutions and individuals;
(c) develop and coordinate cooperative research activities, taking advantage particularly of the installed scientific and professional capacity of the relevant International Hydrological Programme (IHP) networks, the World Water Assessment Programme, the International Flood Initiative and the relevant programmes of governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as involving international institutions and networks under those auspices;
(d) conduct international training courses and educational programmes, especially for the policy makers, practitioners and researchers of the world;
(e) organize knowledge and information transfer activities, including international symposia or workshops, and engage in appropriate awareness-raising activities targeted at various audiences, including the general public;
(f) develop a programme of information and communication technology through appropriate data application;
(g) provide technical consulting services; and
(h) produce scientific and technological publications and other media items related to the activities of the Centre.
3. The Centre shall pursue the above objectives and functions in close coordination with IHP.
Objectives and Functions. 1. The objectives and functions of the Centre shall be aligned with the relevant priorities of the UNESCO Mid-term Strategy (2022-2029), including:
a. UNESCO Global Priorities on Gender Equality and Africa; and
b. Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) Strategies and Priorities.
2. Based on the above UNESCO strategy and as a contribution towards the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals, the Centre shall undertake the following research, education and information hub activities, for the purpose of improving water security and sustainable management worldwide:
a. building an integrated and problem-solving research system and pursuing multidisciplinary research to enhance water security;
b. providing case/field-oriented education and training to strengthen capacities relating to water security based on participating countries’ needs;
c. acting as a global hub for sharing water-related information, thereby promoting strategic cooperation with concerned stakeholders worldwide and enhancing scientific and technical knowledge on water sector;
d. particularly, strengthening cooperation with UNESCO headquarters and regional offices, as well as category 2 centres/institutes;
e. publishing and disseminating research, education materials and other publications to enhance water security; and
f. participating in any other relevant international cooperation programmes for improving water security worldwide.
Objectives and Functions. The objectives and functions of the Centre shall be to:
a. contribute to UNESCO’s strategic programme objectives and expected results aligned with the programmatic periods of the approved Programme and Budget document (C/5), including the global priorities of UNESCO, and related sector and programme priorities and themes, in particular promoting the interface between science, policy and society and ethical inclusive policies for sustainable development and strengthening STI policies and engagement with society, including with vulnerable groups such as Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and indigenous peoples, mobilize intellectual and financial resources from the South to accelerate the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the South, notably SDG 17 and other goals related to science, technology and innovation;
b. provide scientists, managers of research centres/institutions and policymakers with short and medium-term training in specified areas, in particular to trainees from developing countries, with the aim of improving their capacity in managing science and technology innovation systems which would include fellowships, training courses and workshops incorporating both specialized and project-oriented training;
x. xxxxxx cooperation among governments, academia and industry in order to facilitate the transfer of knowledge between the public and private sectors, and the development of well-planned and relevant knowledge-based programmes and institutions in participating countries;
d. conduct research and make available knowledge, including through open science, on potential new technologies such as information technology (IT), biotechnology (BT), Nanotechnology (NT), artificial intelligence (AI) technology, etc. to address specific problems faced by developing countries;
e. develop networks and collaborative research and development (R&D) and training programmes at regional and international levels including linking of designated nodal centres in participating countries; and f. facilitate the exchange and dissemination of information.

Objectives and Functions. The functions of the Community shall be to promote, co-ordinate and har xxxxxx all activities relating to the pepper economy with a view to achieving the following broad objectives:
(1) To co-ordinate and stimulate research on technical and economic aspects of production, including research on diseases affecting the pepper plant, research on development of disease-resistant and high-yielding varieties;
(2) To facilitate the exchange of information on programmes and policies, and on any other aspects relating to production;
(3) To develop programmes for increasing consumption in traditional and new markets, including programmes of co-operation in promotion activities;
(4) To intensify and co-ordinate research on new uses of pepper;
(5) To further joint action for the relaxation of tariff and non-tariff barriers and for the removal of other obstacles to trade;
(6) To co-ordinate standards of quality so as to facilitate international marketing;
(7) To keep under constant review developments relating to supply, demand and prices of pepper;
(8) To carry out investigations into the causes and consequences of fluctuations in the price of pepper and suggest appropriate solutions;
(9) To improve statistical and other information on pepper production, con sumption, trade and prices, including techniques of production and con sumption forecasting; and
(10) To undertake such other activities and functions as may be deemed desirable in the interests of the world pepper economy.
