Open Campus. As a program of East Helena High School, there will be the opportunity for an open campus at lunch time. Students are expected to be back to school on time, ready to learn before the bell rings. If it becomes a continued issue of a student not returning on time, they will have their campus closed for a specified duration. At all other times, the campus is closed and once a student enters the building, they are to stay there until the end of the day, or they are excused by a parent. This includes not leaving to grab something from their vehicle. Attendance is key to successfully completing an education. The following attendance policy will be utilized: ● A student will be considered tardy if they are not in their assigned place, working, when the bell rings. ● If a student misses more than 10 minutes during the class period, they will be considered absent for the day. ● If a student is going to be absent or needs to leave at some point during the day for an appointment, their parent must call 000-0000 to excuse the absence. After 1 week, if no note or call has come in for a student who was absent, it will stay as an unexcused absence. ● Too many absences will affect which level a student is on at school, with excessive absences potentially causing the removal from the program. Cell phones can be an integral part of learning, when used correctly. When entering the building, it is asked that cell phones be turned off or put on vibrate and kept in a safe location and out of sight when class is in session. You will be able to keep your cell phone in your personal space in the classroom area, it will need to stay there during the lesson. Each teacher has the discretion to create their additional expectations for phone use while at school, students are expected to follow those. If a phone becomes an issue, a phone call home will be made and the student will not be allowed to bring their cell phone to school for a specified period of time. If a student is working at their own station, it is permissible for them to listen to music, but one ear needs to be free and able to hear instructions at all times. Wearing appropriate clothing to school is a must. Students will follow the below guidelines when coming to school: ● No drug, alcohol, tobacco, sex, violence, illicit acts, obscenity, or vulgar displays, symbols, or advertising present on any article of clothing (hats, socks, shoes, etc.) ● No bandanas or clothing with any gang affiliations. ● No undergarments shall...
