Operation Principles 2-5. Confidential Printing Mechanism This mechanism consists of the thermal head which has the head heating elements arranged in a series and has a driver IC for controlling voltage to the head heating elements, the platen which is also used for the paper feed mechanism as well as this mechanism (the thermal head is also used for both mechanisms), and the spring, press head. The platen presses the thermal paper wrapped around the platen against the head heating elements pressed by the spring, press head. When the elements are activated, the paper is heated at the designated points, resulting in the printing action.
