Payment for Unused Sick Leave Death Benefit. A death benefit based upon the number of unused days of sick leave will be paid to the beneficiary of an employee who has served ten (10) years with the school system and whose death occurs while the employee is on active duty or on an approved leave of absence. The payment for the unused sick leave will be up to a maximum of 200 days effective July 1, 1998, at the rate of 25% of the daily rate of pay or $18 for a full day, whichever is higher.
