Common use of Payment on Temporary Assignment Clause in Contracts

Payment on Temporary Assignment. Where an Employee is temporarily assigned by the Employer to perform work in a classification paying a lower rate than that Employee’s regular rate while there is work available in that Employee’s own classification, the Employee shall be paid his/her regular rate. When an Employee is temporarily assigned by the Employer to perform work in a classification paying a higher rate, the Employee shall receive the rate for that classification. Where the classification rate is on an increment scale, the Employee shall receive an increase in pay that approximates one increment step (based on his/her current scale) increase over his/her current increment rate or the maximum for the position; whichever is less.
