Payment when temporarily assigned to other work. When circumstances so necessitate an employee may temporarily be assigned work that is not specified in his employment contract. In those cases where an employee performs substantial work for which a higher wage rate applies, he or she shall be paid in full at the higher wage rate. If an employee occasionally, but for at least 7 hours and 5 minutes a week, performs work for which a higher wage rate applies, he or she shall be paid at the higher rate for the time he or she performs such work.
