Photographic Documentation. The Recipient or qualified professional shall ensure that the historic property and all relevant resources are recorded prior to demolition, alteration, or relocation in accordance with Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS) standards or the Photographic Documentation Standards for Historic Structures adopted by SHPO. The qualified professional and SHPO shall identify an appropriate archive for the deposit and the Recipient shall be responsible for submitting such materials. SHPO may waive the recordation requirement as it deems appropriate.

Prior to commencement of the demolition of the existing historic State Boulevard Bridge over Spy Run (NBI No. 0200273) for this undertaking, the City of Fort Xxxxx will ensure that photographic documentation of the State Boulevard Bridge over Spy Run (NBI No. 0200273) will take place, as provided for in the 2006 “Programmatic Agreement Among the Federal Highway Administration, the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Indiana State Historic Preservation Officer, and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation Regarding Management and Preservation of Indiana’s Historic Bridges.” B. Prior to the commencement of site preparation, demolition, or construction activities for this undertaking within the Brookview-Irvington Park Historic District, the City of Fort Xxxxx will ensure that photographic documentation of the part of the Historic District that will be altered by this undertaking will take place. The photographs will concentrate on the following subjects: 1. The streetscape and setting, including broad views of the main facades of buildings facing the street, within the parts of the existing State Boulevard and Eastbrook Drive that will be altered; and 2. Those houses that contribute to the significance of the Historic District and that will be demolished. At least two photographs of each of those houses will be taken, and they will be taken from oblique angles in order to document all four elevations of each house. C. This documentation will include black and white prints of digital photographs and a digital video disc (“DVD”) containing the photographs, recorded as closely as possible in keeping with the relevant standards of the version of the “Indiana DNR – Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology Minimum Architectural Documentation Standards” that are in effect at the time. 1. Separate sets of the photographs of the State Boulevard Bridge over Spy Run and of the photographs of the parts of the Brookview-Irvington Park Historic District will be prepared; 2. The photography will be conducted by a professional photographer or a qualified professional who meets relevant professional qualification standards of the Secretary of the Interior; 3. Photographic Documentation. CWEC will make photographic documentation of existing conditions, work in progress, and completed work. CWEC will make reasonable effort to collect a photographic record of work as it is performed. Photographs will be date and time stamped, and labeled. Photographs will be taken with digital single frame equipment and provided to Client in electronic format on CD or posted to EADOC as requested by the Owner.
Photographic Documentation. Digital photographs would be used to document important artifacts and features encountered during fieldwork. Digital photography will be performed using raw file formats (a lossless format) rather than .jpg images, in order to preserve the maximum amount of information recoverable in later processing of images. Additional documentation may include video recording. A record form would be maintained for each photograph, detailing the date, time, number, subject description, view direction, and file name. Stratigraphic profiles would be documented for at least one wall of each excavation unit, as well as selected sections of trenches. Profile documentation would include the site designation, unit number, wall orientation, and location of the section along the trench. Descriptions of each stratum would include Xxxxxxx color descriptions, textures, structures, natural inclusions, cultural inclusions, and contacts between strata. Open trenches and units would be covered and/or barricaded at the end of each workday. All trenches and excavation units would be backfilled upon the completion of fieldwork. The Contractor would restore the excavation area after construction in the immediate area is completed. In addition to surface inspection and excavation of prehistoric archaeological properties, remote- sensing techniques may be employed during archaeological site investigation. Remote-sensing techniques applicable to evaluating a prehistoric archaeological property include ground- penetrating radar, electromagnetic survey, resistivity survey, and burial identification survey using cadaver dogs. However, remote sensing does not obviate the need for archaeological excavation as the results of remote-sensing investigations must be verified. • In the event that cultural material is collected, they will be cleaned before they are cataloged, with the possible exception of delicate or perishable materials such as bone, shell, textile, and fired clay. Artifacts will then be sorted by provenience and functional type. Artifacts will be labeled according to each unit/feature. Artifacts will then be permanently labeled with a sequential catalog number, which will be added during cataloging.
