Common use of Police Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, and the Captain Clause in Contracts

Police Officers, Sergeants, Lieutenants, and the Captain. (1) Each Police Officer, excluding Sergeants, Lieutenants, and the Captain of the Norwich Police Department, covered by this Contract shall be paid in accordance with this section of Article 14, and Appendix A, attached hereto and made a part hereof. (a) Step I in Appendix A shall be the Entrance Rate of Pay. (b) Step II in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay upon successful completion of probationary period or entrance as a certified officer. (c) Step III in Appendix A shall be at the rate of pay after five (5) years of employment. (d) Step IV in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after six and one-half (6.5) years of employment. (e) Step V in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after nine (9) years of employment. (f) Step VI in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after twelve (12) years of employment. (2) Each Sergeant, of the Norwich Police Department covered by this Contract shall be paid in accordance with this section of Article 14, and Appendix A, attached hereto and made a part hereof. (a) Step I in Appendix A shall be the Entrance Rate of Pay. (b) Step II in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after one (1) year of employment in grade. (c) Step III in Appendix A shall be effective and at the rate of pay after four (4) years of employment in grade. (3) Each Lieutenant, and the Captain of the Norwich Police Department covered by this Contract shall be paid in accordance with this section of Article 14, and Appendix A, attached hereto and made a part hereof. (a) Step I in Appendix A shall be the Entrance Rate of Pay. (b) Step II in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after one (1) year of employment in grade. (4) It is expressly understood and agreed that Police Officers, including Sergeants, Lieutenants and the Captain, shall, during the term of this Contract, continue to receive any annual increments provided by the Salary Plan (see Appendix A attached hereto), and the Merit System Rules of the City of Norwich, provided the same is not in conflict with this Contract.

(c) Step III in Appendix A shall be effective and at the rate of pay after four (4) years of employment in grade. (3) Each Lieutenant, and the Captain of the Norwich Police Department covered by this Contract shall be paid in accordance with this section of Article 14, and Appendix A, attached hereto and made a part hereof. (c) Step III in Appendix A shall be at the rate of pay after five (5) years of employmentemployment and shall be four and one-half (4.5%) percent less than Step IV. (d) Step IV in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after six and one-one- half (6.5) years of employment.employment and shall be three and one-half (3.5%) percent less than Step V. (e) Step V in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after nine (9) years of employmentemployment and shall be two (2.0%) percent less than Step VI. (f) Step VI in Appendix A shall be effective 7/1/2014 and at the rate of pay indicated in Appendix A after twelve (12) 12 years of employment. (2) Each Sergeant, of the Norwich Police Department covered by this Contract shall be paid in accordance with this section of Article 14, and Appendix A, attached hereto and made a part hereof. (a) Step I in Appendix A shall be the Entrance Rate of PayPay and shall be two and one-half (2.5%) percent less than Step II. (b) Step II in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after one (1) year of employment in gradegrade and shall be two and one-half (2.5%) percent less than Step III. (c) Step III in Appendix A shall be effective and at the rate of pay after four (4) years of employment in gradegrade and shall be eight thousand ($8,000) dollars more than Police Officer Step VI. (3) Each Lieutenant, and the Captain of the Norwich Police Department covered by this Contract shall be paid in accordance with this section of Article 14, and Appendix A, attached hereto and made a part hereof. (a) Step I in Appendix A shall be the Entrance Rate of Pay. For employees promoted to Lieutenant and Captain on or after 7/1/2014 the pay shall be two and one-half (2.5%) percent less than Step II. (b) Step II in Appendix A shall be the rate of pay after one (1) year of employment in grade.. For employees promoted to Lieutenant on or after 7/1/2014, Step II shall be eight thousand ($8,000) dollars more than Sergeant Step III. For employees promoted to Captain on or after 7/1/2014 Step II shall be eight thousand ($8,000) dollars more than Lieutenant Step II. For employees promoted to Lieutenant and Captain prior to 7/1/2014 the pay shall be as indicated on Appendix A. (4) It is expressly understood and agreed that Police Officers, including Sergeants, Lieutenants and the Captain, shall, during the term of this Contract, continue to receive any annual increments provided by the Salary Plan (see Appendix A attached hereto), and the Merit System Rules of the City of Norwich, provided the same is not in conflict with this Contract.
