Common use of Processed Gravel Clause in Contracts

Processed Gravel. Processed gravel shall consist of clean, hard, durable particles or fragments, free from an excess of soft thin elongated, laminated or disintegrated pieces, and shall conform to the following gradation requirements. Crushed rock of comparable size and grading may be used. Sieve Percent Passing 2 inch 100% 1 ½ inch 70-100% ¾ inch 50-85% No. 4 30-60% No. 200 0-12% All processed gravel must be approved prior to placement. The Contractor shall deliver suitable samples of processed gravel to the Engineer for testing purposes. At the end of a 48 hour period, the Engineer shall either accept or reject the material. Existing on-site base material must be approved by the Engineer prior to re-use.
