Prohibition on the Sale of PHI. Except as otherwise permitted by the Privacy and Security Regulations, Business Associate shall not directly or indirectly receive remuneration in exchange for any of Covered Entity’s PHI unless Covered Entity or Business Associate first obtains a valid, signed authorization from the individual whose PHI is at issue and such authorization specifies whether the PHI can be further exchanged for remuneration by the entity receiving the PHI.
