Common use of Purpose of Procedure and Definition of Grievance Clause in Contracts

Purpose of Procedure and Definition of Grievance. It is the declared objective of the Board and the AFT to encourage the prompt resolution of all grievances. Accordingly, the following grievance procedure is established to provide an orderly and expeditious procedure for this resolution. A grievance is defined as a complaint concerning any condition, action, or lack of action on the part of the District that the AFT or a current or former faculty member believes to be a violation, misinterpretation, or misapplication of this Agreement. This Grievance Procedure shall not apply to any matter on which the Board is without authority to act.
