The supervisor should evaluate the following items: • Did the employee’s actions have a negative impact on department operations? • Did the employee’s actions cause the department loss of time, undue cost, serious liability exposure, or potential liability? • Does the action bring negative attention to the department? Once the above-mentioned items have been considered, the supervisor must determine the severity of the infraction. Was this a minor or major infraction?
