Common use of REASONS FOR SUSPENSION Clause in Contracts

REASONS FOR SUSPENSION. The OWNER shall have the right by written order to temporarily suspend the work, in whole or in part, whenever, in the judgment of the OWNER, such temporary suspension is required: A. in the interest of the OWNER generally, B. due to government or judicial controls or orders which make performance of this contract temporarily impossible or illegal, C. to coordinate the work of separate contractors at the job site, D. to expedite the completion of a separate contract even though the completion of this particular Contract may be thereby delayed, E. because of weather conditions unsuitable for performance of the Work, or F. because the CONTRACTOR is proceeding contrary to contract provisions or has failed to correct conditions considered unsafe for workmen. The written order of the OWNER to the CONTRACTOR shall state the reasons for suspending the work and the anticipated periods for such suspension. Upon receipt of the OWNER’S written order, the CONTRACTOR shall suspend the work covered by the order and shall take such means and precautions as may be necessary to properly protect the finished and partially finished work, the unused materials and uninstalled equipment, including the providing of suitable drainage about the work and erection of temporary structures where necessary. The CONTRACTOR shall not suspend the Work without written direction from the OWNER and shall proceed with the work promptly when notified by the OWNER to resume operations.
