Common use of Reduction of Teaching Load Clause in Contracts

Reduction of Teaching Load. The teaching load of teachers in an interdisciplinary assignment may have their teaching load reduced from five (5) class periods to four (4) class periods according to the following criteria: a) The number of disciplines involved requires more time for teachers to plan for instruction and to develop schedules and activities for diverse ability groups. b) The success of the program is in jeopardy. c) The released time would not result in an increase of class size in the affected disciplines. The student load of the teachers in the program will be the same as that of teachers in their department who teach five (5) classes.
