Request for Variance (RFV). The Contractor shall generate and submit an RFV (CDRL A020) to request approval for a temporary departure, i.e., deviation/waiver, from a specific requirement(s) of the Government controlled Console, Display, and Peripheral Equipment baseline. RFVs may be submitted against the Console, Display, and Peripheral Equipment baseline during production, or after the configuration item has been submitted for Government inspection and acceptance. The Contractor shall also generate and submit an RFV to obtain authorization to deliver nonconforming item(s) to the Government, which do not comply with the applicable technical requirements.

Request for Variance (RFV). For any proposed departure from approved product definition information for a limited amount of time or specified effectivity, or for ammunition found to be nonconforming with product definition information after the ammunition has been produced, the Contractor shall submit a Request for Variance (RFV) to the Government for review in accordance with CDRL A002.
