Common use of Responsibility for Communal Property Clause in Contracts

Responsibility for Communal Property. Communal property includes but is not limited to hallways, bathrooms, stairwells, elevators, lounges, living rooms, utility rooms, and kitchens. In buildings or areas where the University has determined that there is undue abuse of University property and the responsible individual(s) cannot be identified, all residents will be held responsible for either paying a share of the cost of repairing such damages/restoring the communal space to its original condition or for completing communal community service hours. The University reserves the right to enter communal spaces including but not limited to kitchens, laundry rooms and living rooms for cleaning and maintenance purposes and to determine the use of all lounges, common, and public areas in the residence halls and apartments.
